What goes in to mounting a AV shelf?

Most shelving systems need to be assembled before installation, depending on the  shelf this can sometimes be a tedious task because of the .  We can provide this service in addition to the installation of the shelf onto the wall. Once assembled you'll want to make sure you've located the center of two studs in the wall you're mounting to.  If you're unable to reach a stud on one side you can use a toggle bolt. If you're unable to reach a stud on either side we do not recommend installing the shelf in that location as it could potentially become a hazard if too much weight is put on top while someone or a pet is below (think kids playing on furniture).  Make sure you have the holes level between the two studs and then mount the shelf to the wall.

Can I hide the wires with an AV shelf?

Yes. We cut in a single gang outlet box and attach a paintable faceplate with a recessed cable guide. This gives the job that clean professional look. The other cut in box goes behind the TV and you feed the cables between the two locations.  Sometimes you'll need to take the power cord for your devices out of the wall near the floor because you might not have power outlet behind your TV. A soundbar can be mounted above the shelf as well.

Do AV shelfs help?

We believe AV shelfs can be quite useful when you have to have a device plugged into you wall mounted TV but don't wan to take up floor space with a piece of furniture (usually the reason for mounting the TV to begin with).
